Neuropathic Pain Relief
Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) uses the body’s blood to restore and regenerate damaged tissues in the body. Restoring damaged tissue can allow nerves to regenerate and regain proper function, resulting in neuropathic pain relief.
In PRP, platelets are extracted from the patient’s blood and concentrated into a PRP injection. The patient will be required to give a small blood sample. This blood same then goes through a process called centrifugation. Centrifugation spins the blood at high rates, separating the red blood cells and plasma. Plasma is rich in platelets and growth factors that are important in the healing process. This plasma is then injected into areas that are numbed previous to the injection. Many patients report that the PRP injections do not cause pain and they are able to return to their daily activities immediately after treatment.
Once the PRP injection has been completed, the platelets and growth factors will go to work repairing tissues and damaged nerves. Patients report immediate relief that continues over a span of weeks after their PRP injection. After the PRP injections, patients will be follow up with visits so our doctors can monitor their progress.
